FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Our Healthy Community’s social media platform OHCEngage is honored to launch a first-of-its-kind digital space designed for every woman—Women Connected for Better Health (WCBH). Created to center the stories, needs, and experiences of all women, WCBH is a purpose-built space to have honest conversations, share trusted information, and expand learning in support of women’s health across the lifespan.
Rooted in OHCEngage’s mission to empower communities through engagement, WCBH exists to:
Facilitate meaningful conversations grounded in empathy and shared experience
Provide access to accurate, trustworthy, and relatable health information
Create clear pathways to both free community-building and paid engagement opportunities
Keep the voices of real women at the center of health equity conversations
The WCBH space includes multimedia methods of communication and connection through the Her Power, Her Health Newsletter, The Interview Corner podcast, Conversations that Count, and the Between the Lines Book Club.
“WCBH is more than just a space, it’s where real connection happens. It brings together women from every background to engage in bold, honest conversations, build authentic relationships, and drive meaningful change in our communities,” explained Tinika Sanders, Director of Community Engagement for Our Healthy Community (OHC).
Upcoming Highlights
On Tuesday, May 20, Women Connected for Better Health will host a conversation exploring the evolving landscape of cancer care. Featured guests include:
Lindsay Sabik, PhD, Professor and Vice Chair for Research, Department of Health Policy and Management, University of Pittsburgh
Deborah Collyar, President of Patient Advocates in Research (PAIR) and cancer survivor
Stacy Mathews, hematology/oncology certified nurse practitioner and cancer survivor
On Sunday, June 8, WCBH space members will launch the Between the Lines Book Club with an intimate, candid conversation with Andrea King Collier, award-winning journalist, photographer, and author of The Black Woman’s Guide to Black Men’s Health. As a tribute to Men’s Health Month and Father’s Day, the discussion will reflect on the pivotal role women play in advancing men’s health.
WCBH members can request one of 50 complimentary copies of King Collier’s book, facilitated by ThirdSpace Action Lab, a Black-owned, independent bookstore in Cleveland, Ohio, in the ThirdSpace Reading Room.
Books must be requested by Friday, May 16.
